The list of artists who have influenced Mary Krueziger is varied and distinguished – Georgia O’Keefe, Van Gough, the Old Masters – those influences are apparent in Mary’s paintings, but her work is very much her own; her unique perspective shines through in every detail. Her abstract and figurative paintings are a mixture of textures and bright colors that reflect her ultimate inspiration – life. In her work she strives to convey the whole range of human emotions. Her paintings capture purely human moments in vivid color and texture, giving them a magical, almost fairy tale quality.
After earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Kruziger began her career as an airbrush artist, painting murals on everything form walls to semi-trailers. She feels her current body of work is among her best; it reflects growth for her as an artist. “ It’s fun to work in a big studio because the atmosphere is inspirational; I get ideas from the other artists and I can be myself,” she says.
Painting is not Mary’s only talent; she plays guitar, writes music and dabbles in photography and woodworking. She also enjoys camping, sports and playing with her dog.
One of Kruziger’s dreams is to teach art to children. “I love to work with kids because they are so open to things. I want to teach them that being an artist is not just being able to draw well.”
