Bio

Wesselmann was born in 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio. After studying psychology at the University of Cincinnati, he studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati from 1955 through 1956, and then studied under Nicolas Marsicano until 1969 at the Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture in New York. His work started with brash collages, assemblages and environments using commonplace commodity articles and modeled on advertising catalogs - usually combined with the exhibitionistic pose of a female body.
